Dear Staff, Students and Families,

It has finally begun! We have officially started the 2020-2021 school year with students! We are excited to get to know new students, reconnect with former students, and begin a different educational journey this year. Even though we have worked to identify challenges and create the best option for our students, there will be challenges, yet I am confident we will work through the challenges to a solution.

Please see the attached flyer with registration link for an upcoming workshop on September 29th co-sponsored by the Maynard Anti-Racism Alliance and Maynard Public Schools.

Technology

It has come to our attention that one of the iPads that was provided to a family yesterday had inappropriate content in the Photos app leftover from a prior student user. For this we are truly sorry. This was the result of the iPad being incorrectly configured in our system and being deployed without being wiped clean in the rush to provide devices. This issue is being addressed. In the meantime, if you received a Maynard iPad please check the Photos area as well as the Google Drive and G-mail apps. If there is any non-school related content or personal account information, we will be happy to deliver a replacement iPad or Chromebook to you. Contact IT Director Adam Steiner at asteiner@maynard.k12.ma.us for assistance.

Mask while at school

When attending instruction or events on the school campus, face coverings/masks are required for all students PK-12; with limited exceptions due to medical conditions or disability. For now, if you think your child requires the exemption, please contact your doctor to ask for a memo requesting the exemption.

Central Office Visiting Procedures

As you know, starting Thursday we will have students and staff in the building. This means that strict compliance with Safety Guidelines are more important than ever. This includes the Central Office. Please carefully review the following.

  • Masks and physical distancing are required at all times.

  • Enter the building ONLY through the front door.

  • Exit the building ONLY through the doors outside of the Assembly Hall. This will assure ONE WAY TRAFFIC in and out of the building.

  • We are discouraging drop in visitors in the Central Office. Please call or email the below departments to make an appointment. Or leave payments and forms in the mailbox located outside the Fowler entrance.  Please be sure to write the student and your name on payments/forms if it is not already stated.

This has been one of the most challenging summers in a very long time for all of us. We have continued to work out the details of school reopening at each building, including all health and safety protocols. Teachers have completed several days of professional development and are ready to see their students!

Please continue to ask questions and work with us, as we begin the 2020-2021 school year. Have a wonderful start to the year!

Be well and stay strong,

Brian Haas
