Good morning,

I am writing this morning in regards to some upcoming changes in the Maynard High School Guidance Department.

A little less than two weeks ago Renee Thomen-Brown informed us that she had accepted a position at a public school located much, much closer to her home than her current more than 1 hour commute.  As a result, her last day with us will be this Friday February 8th.  We wish Renee nothing but the best in the future and thank her for her many years of service to the students and families of Maynard High School.

When we were notified of this impending change we immediately posted the position internally and externally.

Starting on Monday February 11th Guidance Counselor Dana MacPhee, who had been splitting time between the high school and Fowler School, will be based full time at the high school.  Dana, along with Guidance Lead Lisa MacLean, will be working with our students here at the high school and will be working with students formerly handled by Mrs. Thomen-Brown.

Meanwhile, we are moving into the hiring process to fill the position previously held by Dana MacPhee which was halftime at the High School and halftime at the Fowler school.

This course of events has been unexpected and fast moving.  We are responding as rapidly as possible in order to maintain needed services for students and families, have adequate coverage within the district, and ensure that new personnel hired are of the highest caliber.

Thank you and take care,

Chuck Caragianes

Principal for Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment
