2nd Quarter Round Up

posted Jan 17, 2014, 11:44 AM by Chuck Caragianes
I hope you all enjoyed the Winter break and had a joyous New Year.

Incredibly, the second quarter of the year is rapidly approaching the finish line.

Next Friday, January 24th, is the 90th day of school and the second quarter (and first semester) will reach its close.  Grades will be entered and verified over the following week and grades ought to be available near the end of the first week of February.

Many students will have schedule adjustments as we begin the 3rd quarter of the year as semester based courses for upperclassmen end and a new course begins.  8th graders will experience a switch to a new class during the last period of the day as they continue a cycle of exploration.

Fall sports are well underway and our teams continue to play well, have fun, and get their share of victories.  Check out the Athletics' Website and AD Kevin Caruso's updates for more information.

On the arts front, the school musical Beauty and the Beast is in rehearsal, and it promises to be a fantastic show this coming March.

We continue to partner with MassBay Community College to offer credit granting courses right here at MHS during the regular school day at steeply discounted rates.  Upperclassmen and their families should contact guidance right away if they are interested.

Next week the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), will be assessing the entire Maynard District including the high school.  This once a decade assessment is designed to evaluate the efficacy of our schools and we welcome the evaluation at Maynard High School  as a means of improving our own programs and course of study.

Take care for now--
Chuck Caragianes
Principal of Maynard High School
