A Week of Success and Fun!

posted Mar 26, 2018, 4:59 AM by Chuck Caragianes

Good afternoon,

Our winter sports season wrapped up this past weekend with our Boy’s Basketball Team as State Runner Up in Division 4.  This was Maynard High School’s unprecedented 3rd consecutive appearance in the State Final in Springfield marking an incredible run of achievement and success at the highest level.  Congratulations go out to Coach Howes, Assistant Coaches Pileeki and Stewart, and the entire team for another top notch season.

Maynard High School students are also achieving magical results in our theater.  The Little Mermaid continues its acclaimed run this weekend with its 3 final performances.  Tickets are selling quickly for this Disney favorite--don’t be shut out! Further details about the show and purchasing tickets can be found below.

This past Monday a group of 11 students, our Guidance Counselors Ms. MacLean, Mrs. Thomen-Brown, and Ms. MacPhee, Assistant Principal Caruso and myself all visited the 8th grade students at the Fowler School to answer questions and give presentations about moving up to Maynard High School as Freshmen members of the class of 2022.  Additional informational and welcoming activities are planned for the spring and summer as we look forward to being joined at MHS in late August by this tremendous group of students.

And now, thanks to Mr. Ogden’s Classes, Great News Regarding Video Production!

Two videos, representing 5 junior and senior students on behalf of the advanced communications class, took top honors in a state sponsored video PSA competition.  For their creative efforts, both themselves and their classmates have been invited as guests of honor to the State House, where student videos will be shared and discussed.  Also, the Massachusetts Department of Education will be sharing their videos via social media in the near future.

Though spring arrived this past Tuesday at 12:15pm, snow continued to fly this week, fortunately without necessitating any school cancellations.  Snow or no snow though, there’s always a lot going on at Maynard High!

Take care and have a great weekend,

Chuck Caragianes, M.Ed.

Principal of Maynard High School
