Have a Wonderful Holiday Season and a Safe and Healthy New Year!

posted Dec 22, 2017, 11:59 AM by Chuck Caragianes

Good afternoon,

It was a fine week for Caroling at Maynard High School.

Mr. Mehigan brought his 3rd Grade students from the Green Meadow School to Maynard High School this past Wednesday and they entertained approximately 150 high school students in our cafeteria before visiting about a dozen classrooms.  Let me tell you, they do a spirited version of Jingle Bell Rock!  Thank Mr. Mehigan, and thank you to his students.  I’m already looking forward to next year.

And today our high school choral group took to the streets of Maynard for our annual round of Caroling in and around downtown Maynard.  This amazing group of students under the direction of Mrs. Blanchard always help to make the season bright for our entire community.

These events coupled with our highly successful Wind Ensemble & Jazz Band concert this past Wednesday night demonstrates the musical talents and gifts of the children of Maynard across our schools.

And now, thanks to Mr. Ogden’s Classes, the Latest Installment of the Maynard High News!

Happy Holidays from Everyone here at MHN!  A Special Holiday Episode, with all your favorite Segments taking a Holiday approach!

Enjoy the break everybody!

Below are some additional items of note and upcoming events:

Winter Vacation Reminder

At 2:05pm next Friday, December 22nd Maynard High School will close for academic classes for the winter vacation.  The winter vacation for students will extend from that time until 7:00am on Tuesday January 2, 2018 when school reopens with breakfast being served in the cafeteria.

From Our Health Services

Flu season is just about upon us.  Below you will find links to "The Flu: A Guide for Parents" thanks to our school nurse Mary Ferranti.  The links are in English, Spanish and Portuguese and are also available on the Health Services page for the Maynard Public Schools.

From Our Food Service

Starting Monday 12/11 the food service department will no longer offer products with peanuts in it. The only product we had offered with any peanut in it was the Teddie's peanut butter we had used for sandwiches. Sun Butter will be offered as a substitute upon request.

A Closing Message for 2017

It is hard to believe, sometimes, how fast a year can go by.  Here we are officially a day into winter and for many of us the holidays are upon us and the New Year is less than 10 days away.

As we enter our winter vacation I wish you peace and joy in the New Year and a wonderful holiday season whatever your faith or secular traditions may be.  I hope to see you all in 2018.

Have a safe and healthy winter vacation and I know I’ll see many of you early in 2018.

Chuck Caragianes, M.Ed.
