It Will Be a Busy Final Month!

posted May 18, 2018, 7:40 AM by Chuck Caragianes

Good afternoon,

Academics and the Arts have been front and center this past week at Maynard High School.

Academically, Senior Project Showcase took place this past Monday night with scores of Seniors presenting and scores of parents friends and community members attending.  AP Exams occurred throughout the past two week with well over 100 students taking these challenging assessments.

Musically, I was happy to be in attendance for a wonderful Spring Concert held Wednesday night with a well over 400 people attending, helping or performing.  Additionally, starting today our Band and Choral groups will be competing in the Great East music festival. Based on their performances at our own Spring Concert earlier this week, they are sure to represent Maynard High School and the entire Maynard Community with distinction and garner well earned accolades at this prestigious gathering of musical talent from across the region.

The calendar is winding down inexorably toward the end of the 2017-2018 school year.  Our Seniors begin their final exam period next Wednesday May 23rd and their last class day is Wednesday May 30th.  Senior Awards Night will be held Wednesday June 6th at 7:00pm in our gymnasium, and our Graduation ceremonies will be held Friday evening June 8th at 6:30pm at Alumni Field (weather permitting).  In the event of inclement weather, or a forecast of inclement weather, Graduation ceremonies will be held on the same date and time in the high school gymnasium.

On another note, we have constructed the schedule for the 2018-2019 school year taking into account our students’ course selections.  We continue to refine individual student schedules and make minor adjustments. Student schedules will be distributed no later than June 1st some three weeks before the end of the school year.   That will leave ample time should any adjustments or corrections be needed on any individual student’s schedule prior to the end of the school year.

Now thanks to Mr. Ogden’s Classes, an Encore Installment of the Maynard High News!

In This Week's Episode:

Jordan and Emma discuss prom, Dan talks about the Koreas, Pam talks to her fans, Sam and Meghan have baseball & softball updates, Market Madness has a PRIZE,  a dog themed photo of the week, and more!

MHS Interact Club

Maynard High School will be starting a new club next year!  The Interact Club is an international organization that does service work and attempts to increase international relationships.  It is sponsored by a local Rotary Club and the direction the club goes depends on the interest of the members. A main goal of the Interact Club is to further international understanding and goodwill.  This is a great club for students who are interested in earning community service hours and/or learning about international connections or travel. Students who are interested should see Mrs. Adams or Mr. Ogden.   The first informational meeting will be May 21 after school in Mrs. Adams’ room (Rm. B224).
