Key Dates AS We Head Toward Late Spring & Summer

posted May 9, 2014, 2:45 PM by Chuck Caragianes

Good afternoon--

For students, staff and families there is no busier time of year than May and June.  As I write this we are 4 weeks from graduation on June 7th and less than 6 weeks from the last day of school for underclassmen on June 19th.  In this six week interval there are numerous events, exams, and activities.

The list that appears below is not exhaustive, please see the calendar on the MHS website for a day by day breakdown including concerts & musical events, WAVM activities including the Banquet, and athletic activities, but is meant to highlight significant dates related to academics and the close of our senior's careers at Maynard High School that many people like to have at their fingertips.

Tonight is our Prom at 7:00pm in at the Sheraton in Framingham.  Needless to say, all of our students who are attending, along with their families, are well aware of this date and time!

May 28, 29 & 30:  Senior Final Exams.

May 30th:  Seniors last school day.

June 2nd:  Senior Trip.

June 4th:  1.  First Graduation Rehearsal.  2.  Senior Cruise.

June 5th:  Senior Awards Assembly in the Gymnasium at 7:00pm.

June 6th:  1.  7th Grade Up Day.  Current 7th graders come to MHS to aid in their transition to a new building and teaching team.  2.  Final Graduation Rehearsal & Senior Luncheon.  3.  Early Release all schools.

June 7th:  Graduation!  3:00pm at Alumni Field.  Alternative weather site:  Maynard High School Gymnasium.

June 11th:  Underclassmen Awards Assembly.  9:15am to 11:00am at Maynard High School.

June 12th:  Underclassmen Exams Commence.  Full day all grades.

June 13, 16 & 17:  Underclassmen Exams Grades 9-11.  Early Release Day grades 8-11.

June 19th:  Last Day of School All Grades.   Early Release Day grades 8-11.

A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE FOR SENIORS:  All obligations must be fulfilled to attend the Senior Trip, Senior Cruise, Senior Awards Assembly, Senior Luncheon and Graduation.  This includes the return of all school books and materials, and the payment of all fees owed to the district.

NOTES ON GRADUATION INCLUDING INVITATIONS:  Traditionally at Maynard High School on the first day of graduation rehearsal, this year Wednesday June 4th, the students receive their caps and gowns, cumulative folders, and invitations.  Each student will receive 6 printed invitations.

In the event the graduation is moved indoors, sections of the gymnasium will be set aside for people in possession of an invitation.  These seats will include center sections and rows close to the gym floor.  This is approximately 500 seats.

The remainder of the gymnasium seating will be used for those without an invitation on a first come first seated basis.  There are approximately 500 additional seats for guests.  Though our gymnasium cannot seat as many people as Alumni Field, there is seating for 1,000 guests of our graduates.

In the event that the ceremony is moved indoors, a final decision will be made no later than 10:00am on Saturday morning.  An Email blast will go out via iPASS.

I hope you find this listing useful and remind you once again to check our day by day calendar on the website for many exciting, additional upcoming events!

Thank you for reading and have a great weekend--

Chuck Caragianes

Principal of Maynard High School
