Maynard is Leading the Nation!

posted May 11, 2018, 12:31 PM by Chuck Caragianes

Good afternoon,

We experienced an exceptional day today as a school community.

Approximately 80 students from our Senior Project classes and 7 more students from Mr. Mollica’s Engineering class presented their work to dozens of volunteers from the community representing numerous professions, businesses and trades.  A shout out to Mr. Mollica is very much in order for his work leading up to today.

A huge thank you goes out to two of our outstanding teachers, Jean LaBelle and Paul Orzech, who coordinate our stellar and growing Senior Project program.  To say they go above and beyond the call of duty regarding Senior Project is a vast understatement.

We were joined by a delegation from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Department of Elementary and Secondary Education who were here to observe our students in action and to acknowledge our role as a partner school district the state’s Leading the Nation campaign.

The Maynard Education Foundation generously underwrote a wonderful luncheon for all of our participants to start the afternoon’s activities and the community members of our Senior Project Advisory Committee were also in attendance.

Today’s events demonstrate the high quality education our students are receiving thanks to a caring, dedicated and professional staff, a sound curriculum, and a tremendously supportive community.  Well done Seniors! Well done Maynard!

I’d also like to report that our Prom went off without a hitch last Friday night May 4th with 161 students enjoying a wonderful night at the Westford Regency.  Fun was truly had by all. Our students’ deportment and behavior was specifically commented on by hotel management who went out of their way to let us know that our students were the most mature and best mannered high school group they had ever encountered.  That is a wonderful testament to our students, their families, and the Maynard Community they represent.

On another note, we have constructed the schedule for the 2018-2019 school year taking into account our students’ course selections.  We continue to refine individual student schedules and make minor adjustments. Student schedules will be distributed no later than June 1st some three weeks before the end of the school year.   That will leave ample time should any adjustments or corrections be needed on any individual student’s schedule prior to the end of the school year.

Now thanks to Mr. Ogden’s Classes the Latest Installment of the Maynard High News!

MHS Interact Club

Maynard High School will be starting a new club next year!  The Interact Club is an international organization that does service work and attempts to increase international relationships.  It is sponsored by a local Rotary Club and the direction the club goes depends on the interest of the members. A main goal of the Interact Club is to further international understanding and goodwill.  This is a great club for students who are interested in earning community service hours and/or learning about international connections or travel. Students who are interested should see Mrs. Adams or Mr. Ogden.   The first informational meeting will be May 21 after school in Mrs. Adams’ room (Rm. B224).
