I’d like to begin by thanking the more than 25 parents who attended our Coffee with the Principal yesterday night March 19th. A lively discussion was held on a wide variety of topics extending for a bit over 2 hours. A special thank you goes out to Superintendent Gerardi for joining us and participating fully throughout the evening. I look forward to future such events.
A full array of events and activities are coming up in the coming weeks as you can see below:

Bye Bye Birdie Opens To Raves! Only Two Performances Left!
Maynard High School is proud to present “Bye Bye Birdie”, the popular ‘50s musical, next month. “Bye Bye Birdie” is the story of Albert, a songwriter and manager of Conrad Birdie, a famous rock star, who makes girls and women of any age swoon! Kim, a teen girl from Sweet Apple, OH, is chosen to be the lucky recipient of Conrad’s last, much-publicized kiss before he heads off to war. Chaos ensues! Kim’s boyfriend is upset, her girlfriends are hysterical and Albert’s long-suffering fiancée Rose is at war with his overbearing mother!
The talented cast and crew consist of over 50 students from MHS and the Fowler School. The students have poured hours of their time and effort into rehearsals in order to present this fabulous musical for the enjoyment of the Maynard community and are excited about their contribution to the performing arts in our town.
Last weekend’s performances were outstanding and tickets are in demand for the final two shows.
Performances will be as follows: Saturday March 21st at 7:00 PM and Sunday, March 22nd at 2:00 PM. Tickets prices are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets are available online at www.mktix.com and at the theater box office on Sat Mar 21st from 5:00-7:00pm (2 hours prior to the show) & on Sun Mar 22nd from 12:00-2:00pm (2 hours prior to Matinee).
Maynard High Students are Getting Ready for a Musical Journey to Washington DC
This spring our band and chorus students will be travelling to our nation’s capitol for a week of competition, learning and fun.
The trip committee is holding a mandatory parent and student meeting on Monday, April 6th, from 6:30 to 7:30 in the High School auditorium. The committee will go over the trip itinerary and review final instructions.
To make sure every student is outfitted appropriately we are asking that every band uniform, tux, dress or regalia be turned in by students who will not be using them so if you have a currently enrolled band or chorus student who is not going on the DC trip, please have them return their uniforms, gowns, all tux parts, any parts from past years that linger with a $10 dry cleaning fee to Mrs. Blanchard in the band room in an effort to clean and then attire students who presently lack a uniform for the upcoming trip.
