Thank You to Our Veterans

posted Nov 10, 2017, 10:25 AM by Chuck Caragianes

Good afternoon,

As we close this week at Maynard High School for Veteran’s Day weekend it is a time for reflection and thanks.  Reflection on the sacrifices and loss of those who have served our nation over the past nearly two and a half centuries and thanks for those who continue to serve in all branches of our armed forces today to allow us to live out our lives in freedom.  As a reminder, there is no school for students this coming Monday.

This week our students have been receiving CPR & AED life saving training.  By the end of today, between last year’s pilot program and this week’s trainings, virtually every student at Maynard High School will have completed this critical work.  Approximately 50 of our students have voluntarily decided to take the training one step further and will be taking the official certification tests to receive their CPR & AED card later this afternoon.  I want to thank Bob Schriever and his team from the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association for their work with our students this week.  It is greatly appreciated and tremendously worthwhile.

Grades for the first quarter of the year have closed and are now available for viewing on iPass.  Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on the afternoon of Wednesday November 15th from 2:15-3:30 pm and the evening of Thursday November 16th from 6:30-8:00 pm.

To sign up for a Parent-Teacher conference please follow these guidelines:

  1. Please limit your request to three teachers.  Should you feel that additional meetings are needed, those meetings can be arranged through your student’s guidance counselor.  Each meeting on the 15th and 16th is 10 minutes long.

  1. Please give your name, your student’s name, and the 1, 2 or 3 teachers you would like to meet with along with the name of their classes in your response.

  1. In your response let us know if you would prefer the afternoon of the November 15th or the evening of November 16th.

  1. Email your requests to Maynard High School secretary Pam Carter at:  pcarter@maynard.k12.ma.us

  1. Your request will be responded to in the order they are received.
