Time for a "Paws" (After all, we are the Maynard Tigers...)

posted Dec 23, 2015, 8:52 AM by Chuck Caragianes

Good afternoon—

With the vacation break upon us I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the students, parents and staff that make up the Maynard High School community for an excellent 2015.

Our students enjoy tremendous college acceptance and success rates, achieve placements into strong work settings and enter into military service thanks to the foundation and education they receive at Maynard High School.   Student accomplishments in academics, the arts, athletics and community service are what drive these post secondary successes and are a testament to the hard work of the students themselves as well as the dedicated teachers and staff that support their efforts and families at home who care for them.

Today was “Return Day.”  We were very fortunate to have 20 recent Maynard High School graduates come back to MHS to meet with current Juniors and Seniors to give information and advice about the trials, tribulations, joys and successes associated with being a college student.  The questions and answers and informational exchanges were tremendous.  A big thank you goes out to our guidance staff for arranging this annual event and to the 20 graduates who volunteered their time to give back to MHS.

Mrs. Blanchard and several parent volunteers were leading two dozen of our Madrigal singers out into Maynard today to carol as has been our annual tradition for many years.  I’m sure that this will once again be an event filled with fun and joy for both the student singers and their audiences.

Winter sports are in full swing with both girls and boys teams in action.  Check out the Athletics website for dates, times and locations of upcoming games.

In closing today, I’d like to reflect for just a moment on the time of year.

Winter has just begun, despite recent and forecasted temperatures for the next few days, and 2016 will be arriving in little over a week.  For some this is a quite difficult time of year and I know that in Maynard many will reach out a helping hand.  For many other people of many traditions this is a time of year for celebration and family time together.  Whatever your own traditions or situation  I wish you a peaceful and joyful close to 2015 and look forward to an ever brighter new year in 2016.

Have a great winter break, enjoy the holiday season and have a Happy New Year—

Chuck Caragianes

Principal of Maynard High School
