Week 2 Draws to a Successful Close

posted Sep 6, 2013, 12:29 PM by Chuck Caragianes

Good afternoon--

As feared, I've overlooked at least one student who has helped mightily over the last two weeks with tours, organization and support as the year has begun.  A hearty and deep felt thank you goes out to Indira Rao for all of her efforts on behalf of MHS.  Indie is a true asset to our community.

Obvious physical milestones continue to be reached at MHS.  The old building is down and the debris is being sorted by material type and hauled away for recycling.  Our alternative PE room is now equipped and operational, WAVM and Band equipment arrived this week and work on the building continues at night and on weekends to finish every piece and every detail.  Total project completion remains on track for the originally scheduled date of December 1st.

As I've walked through classes this week I've observed numerous examples of high quality instruction, thoughtful student responses and the integration of a range of technologies into instruction.

Sports teams have begun their schedule of games--Go Tigers!

Clubs and activities are beginning to announce initial meetings for this year--Go Tigers!

Our students and staff have approached this year, and the move-in phase, with patience, passion, thoughtfulness and care.  We are off to a strong academic start within a caring environment.   It is clear the students and staff at Maynard High School remain our greatest asset--Go Tigers!!

Thank you for reading and take care--
