Libromat Childhood Literacy Initiative:

Dr. Gerardi and the Central Office team are initiating an early childhood literacy program in the Maynard community. Based on a program called Libromat(, we plan to provide early childhood literacy materials in Maynard's laundromat(s) for families to utilize while doing their laundry. The program is designed to increase literacy sharing opportunities for parents and children. Increasing access to these materials can help improve language, concentration, and social understanding (e.g., social perspective taking). It will also provide an additional connection between our school system and our community.

We now have an agreement with one laundromat, including a dedicated space where books, and parent resource information will be available. We are looking for donations of children's books (newborn to age 7) for the Maynard School District Libromat. We ask that you please search your home book shelves and donate any books that you are no longer using.

Please place materials in the dedicated box or area in your school. Green Meadow and MHS donation boxes will be located in the teacher lounge, and Fowler donation box is located in the front office.
